Samsung PND7000

While the more expensive PND8000 series have received raving reviews in 2011, it is the PND7000 that has surprised the industry by offering superb performance, great features and most importantly of all a reasonable price tag, all in one package. While it is true that there are a few better HDTV models out there, most of them have a price tag that is beyond the budget of the average consumer. This is where the Samsung PND7000 stood out from the crowd.

This plasma HDTV model comes with a set of comprehensive picture controls that would satisfy even the fussiest of TV image buffs. Most importantly, the performance of the Samsung PND7000 is comparable if not almost identical to the more expensive PND8000 in terms of picture quality. The only thing that differentiates the two models is a couple of more extensive features on the PND8000. With great performance and a reasonable price tag, the PND7000 have ended up in the ‘Editor’s Choice’ list of many leading tech publications and also on many ‘highly recommended’ lists. This HDTV series is undoubtedly one of the best plasma HDTVs of 2011

The Sony XBR-HX929 is undoubtedly one of the top LED HDTVs of 2011. While it is not perfect, it doesn’t fail to impress with its great picture quality and decent feature set. For starters, this model products excellent black levels. It processes 1080p/24 sources well and shadow details were also pretty good.

As much as we would like to declare the Sony XBR-HX929 as being perfect, there are a couple of flows that are worth mentioning. For starters, the picture quality deteriorates when viewed from odd-angles. As good as it is at displaying 3D content, it does not come with any 3D glasses. With that said, this LED HDTV model is pretty impressive in its overall performance. Many experts even went as far to say that it is comparable to some of the best plasma HDTVs in the market (plasma TVs to date still serve as a benchmark when it comes to HDTV performance).

I ought to start when the great performance and features of the HDTV and all, but I am just itching to tell you guys that my favorite feature on the Samsung UND8000 is its design. From the front, the screen frame/bezel is so thin that it is barely visible. While watching the TV from the front, almost seems that at all you see is the video image, and no TV in sight. This is definitely the future of HDTV design. Looking forward to the day where all you see from the front is 100% screen and no bezel.

Now that I have gotten that out of the way, it is comforting to note that the Samsung UND8000 does have the goods to back up its stellar looks. The picture quality on this model could be better for its price, but would satisfy the expectation of an everyday consumer. It is well known that Samsung leads the way when it comes to HDTV online content and this can be well observed on this model. It comes with a good web browser as well as a wide array of web apps. It also comes with a double-sided Bluetooth remote. On one side, you will find the regular set of TV controls. One the flip side, there is a QWETY keyboard that is really useful when the HDTV is in web mode.
