Sharp LC60LE835U 55-Inch 3D LED HDTV Review
By mimidelores
Once you go past the 55” range to 60” big-screen HDTVs like the Sharp LC60LE835U it is often difficult to find those with a complete range of features. This isn't the case for this HDTV though as it isn't just stereoscopic 3D compatible but also offers full HD 1080p support along with Internet-ready widgets.
Design
While the design for the Sharp LC60LE835U is relatively simple, it's sheer size may well overwhelm most smaller environments, making it more suitable for a large room. Featuring very slim bezels with rounded corners, this HDTV is black with a glossy surface finish for the rectangular base. The design is good and straightforward while the actual panel is super slim thanks to the edge LED backlighting technology used in this HDTV.

Features and Specifications
Offering 60” worth of screen real-estate the Sharp LC60LE835U supports both stereoscopic 3D as well as full HD 1080p resolutions. As a high-end model, this HDTV also has a 240Hz refresh rate for no motion blurs at all. This includes an 80,000,000:1 contrast ratio that ensures no ghosting effects and more discernible blacks for better display of night and dark scenes for your 1080p media. Like other stereoscopic 3D HDTVs it still requires you to have some active shutter 3D glasses, but these do not come bundled with this particular HDTV set. Like other Sharp AQUOS Quattron HDTVs this HDTV adds on an extra yellow filter in addition to the usual red, blue and green color filters for more vibrant colors.
The HDTV also comes with Internet widgets that support Netflix, CinemaNow, and Vudu streaming video along with live customer support through the built-in Wi-Fi. Connection-wise the Sharp LC60LE835U has four HDMI ports, one component video port, one composite video port, one Ethernet port and a whole bunch of audio connections. Unlike other HDTVs this HDTV manages to pack in two 10W speakers along with a 15W subwoofer.
Performance
Picture, video and audio quality are excellent for the Sharp LC60LE835U. Full HD 1080p media plays very smoothly with great clarity for both dark scenes as well as fast motion scenes. The stereoscopic 3D is also good but the lack of any bundled 3D glasses does hamper out-of-the-box viewing somewhat. While everything else checks out just fine, the Internet widgets are a bit difficult to navigate and activate and are a bit limited in number. Granted, this is partly due to the rather messy remote control layout but you can still browse the Internet for HD media once you've activated the required widgets. Thankfully, the HDTV handles Wi-Fi connectivity with ease and should get you streaming media the moment you connect to the Internet.
Conclusion
All in all, the Sharp LC60LE835U is a great 60” HDTV with all the bells and whistles. However, while it may have support for Internet widgets it may take some getting used to for the best overall experience. It's great performance and large size should make it perfect for the large living room environment.
